Also known as: High King Of Arnor And Gondor
Elder son of Elendil, co-founder of the realms of Gondor and Arnor in exile. Isildur saved a fruit of the White Tree Nimloth before Sauron had it cut down in Numenor. He and his brother Anarion built Minas Ithil and Minas Anor. In the War of the Last Alliance, after Sauron slew both Elendil and Gil-galad, Isildur cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand with the broken hilt-shard of Narsil. He claimed the Ring as weregild for his father and brother but refused to destroy it. The Ring betrayed him at the Gladden Fields, slipping from his finger as he tried to escape an Orc ambush. Isildur was slain by Orc-arrows, and the Ring was lost in the river Anduin for over two thousand years.
