The Anduin

Also known as: The Great River

The Great River of Wilderland, longest in Middle-earth, running from the grey mountains of the far north between Mirkwood and the Misty Mountains, past Lórien and the Argonath, over the falls of Rauros and through Gondor to the sea. In its Gladden Fields Isildur fell and the Ring was lost; from its bed Déagol drew it out again. The Fellowship rowed its long reaches from Lórien to Amon Hen, and Boromir's funeral boat went over Rauros into legend.
