Also known as: Son Of Denethor, Captain Of The White Tower
Eldest son of Denethor II, Steward of Gondor, and elder brother of Faramir. Boromir was a valiant warrior, the greatest captain of Gondor in his time, beloved by his soldiers and his people. He traveled to Rivendell because of a prophetic dream shared by himself and Faramir, seeking the meaning of the riddling words about Isildur's Bane and the Sword that was Broken. He became a member of the Fellowship but was increasingly tempted by the Ring, believing it could be wielded against Sauron to save his city. At Amon Hen, he attempted to take the Ring from Frodo by force, an act that shattered the Fellowship and drove Frodo to continue alone. Boromir immediately repented and redeemed himself by fighting to the death to defend Merry and Pippin from Saruman's Uruk-hai, taking many arrows before falling. He confessed his failure to Aragorn with his dying breath and acknowledged him as his king. His body was set adrift in an Elven boat by Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, and it was seen passing down the river by Faramir.
