Once Minas Ithil, the Tower of the Moon, fair sister-city of Minas Anor, where Isildur dwelt and a palantír was kept. The Nazgûl took it in the year 2002 of the Third Age and made it a place of dread: the Tower of Sorcery, glowing with a pale corpse-light, garrisoned by the Nine. Frodo and Sam watched the Morgul-host ride out to war from the stair above it. After the war, King Elessar ordered it razed to its foundations, its valley to be made clean.
