Also known as: The Sword That Was Broken, The Sword Of Elendil
The sword of Elendil, forged in the First Age by Telchar of Nogrod, greatest of Dwarven smiths; its name joins the lights of Sun and Moon. Elendil drew it against Sauron at the siege of Barad-dûr and died, the blade breaking beneath him — and with its shards Isildur cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand. The Shards of Narsil were kept as an heirloom of the northern line for three thousand years, the symbol of a kingship not dead but waiting.
