Also known as: The Dark Tower, Lugburz
The Dark Tower of Sauron in Mordor, greatest fortress ever raised in Middle-earth, founded upon the power of the One Ring through six hundred years of building. The Last Alliance besieged it for seven years and threw it down — but because the Ring survived, its foundations endured, and Sauron raised it again in the Third Age. From its highest window stared the Eye. When the Ring went into the Fire, Barad-dûr collapsed in final and total ruin, and the shadow of Sauron was blown away on the wind.
