The White Tree Of Gondor

Also known as: The White Tree

The living emblem of Gondor, growing in the Court of the Fountain in Minas Tirith: descendant of Nimloth of Númenor, whose fruit Isildur stole at the peril of his life before the Downfall, and through Nimloth of the image of Telperion itself. When the line of kings failed, the Tree died, and stood withered in the court for over two hundred and fifty years — the Stewards let it stand, awaiting the king. After his crowning, Aragorn found a sapling of the ancient line snow-white with flowers on the slopes of Mindolluin, and the withered Tree was laid to rest with honor in Rath Dínen.
