Also known as: Telperion, Laurelin, The Two Trees
Telperion the silver and Laurelin the gold, the Two Trees sung into being by Yavanna upon the mound of Ezellohar, whose mingled waxing and waning light was the glory of Valinor before Sun or Moon existed. The light of the Trees at its blending was caught by Fëanor in the Silmarils — which proved their only memorial, for Morgoth and Ungoliant slew the Trees in darkness, and not all the power of the Valar could heal them. From Telperion's last flower and Laurelin's last fruit were made the Moon and the Sun; and the White Trees of Númenor and Gondor descend in memory from Telperion's image.
