The realm of the Valar in Aman, far in the uttermost West, where the Two Trees once gave light and no death or sickness comes. The Valar dwell there in the city of Valmar, and the Elves who answered the Great Summons live in Eldamar along its eastern shores — Tirion of the Noldor, Alqualondë of the Teleri. After the Downfall of Númenor it was removed from the circles of the world, reachable only by the Straight Road, which is opened to Elven ships alone. It is to Valinor that the Ring-bearers — Bilbo, Frodo, and at the last Sam — were granted passage at the end of their lives.
