Also known as: The Lonely Isle
Tol Eressea, the Lonely Isle, was a great island in the Bay of Eldamar within sight of the shores of Aman, drawn thither by Ulmo in the elder days when he ferried the Elves across the sea. Upon it the Teleri long dwelt before they built Alqualonde on the mainland; and to it in the latest ages came many of the Elves who passed over Sea out of Middle-earth, dwelling in its green havens within reach of the light of Valinor. There, the tradition holds, much of the lore of the Elder Days was preserved.
