Also known as: Curufinwe, Spirit Of Fire
The greatest of the Noldor and perhaps the most gifted of all the Children of Iluvatar, Feanor was the son of Finwe, first High King of the Noldor, and Miriel Serinde. He created the Silmarils, three jewels of surpassing beauty that captured the light of the Two Trees of Valinor, and which even the Valar could not replicate. He also invented the Tengwar script and created the palantiri (seeing-stones). Yet Feanor was also proud, possessive, and hot-tempered beyond measure. When Morgoth stole the Silmarils and murdered his father, Feanor swore a terrible oath, binding himself and his seven sons to pursue anyone who kept a Silmaril from them, regardless of the consequences. This oath drove the Noldor to commit the first Kinslaying at Alqualonde, where they slew their Telerin kin for their ships. Feanor led the Noldor back to Middle-earth in defiance of the Valar but was slain by Balrogs shortly after landing, his fiery spirit burning his body to ash. His oath continued to drive his sons to increasingly desperate and evil acts throughout the First Age.
