The Dragon-helm of Dor-lomin was the heirloom of the House of Hador, a helm of grey steel crowned with the gilded image of Glaurung the dragon and set with a fierce visage, so that any who faced its wearer were struck with fear. Forged in the First Age by Telchar, the great smith of Nogrod, it passed to Hador and his heirs, and came at the last to Turin son of Hurin, who wore it as the Black Sword of Nargothrond. While he bore it the Dragon-helm was a sign of hope to the people of the North and of dread to their enemies, until his doom overtook him.
