Also known as: Hurin The Steadfast
Lord of the House of Hador and the mightiest warrior among Men in the First Age. In the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, Hurin single-handedly held the rearguard to allow Turgon to escape back to Gondolin, slaying seventy Trolls before being overwhelmed. Morgoth captured him and set him upon a high seat on Thangorodrim, cursing him with Morgoth's own sight so he would witness every sorrow that befell his children Turin and Nienor. Hurin endured this torment for nearly thirty years. Released at last, broken and bitter, his actions inadvertently led to the fall of both Nargothrond and Doriath.
