The younger brother of Hurin and father of Tuor, who stood with his brother in the rearguard at the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the Battle of Unnumbered Tears, so that Turgon and the host of Gondolin could escape the ruin. His last words to Turgon are among the great prophecies of the legendarium: "From you and from me a new star shall arise." He meant the hope that would come of their houses joined — and so it proved: his son Tuor wed Turgon's daughter Idril, and their son was Earendil, the morning star. Huor fell that same evening, pierced through the eye, defending the Fen of Serech beside his brother until the marsh was a wall of the dead.
