Twin brother of Elrond, son of Earendil and Elwing. Given the choice of kindred, Elros chose to be counted among Men and became the first King of Numenor. He ruled for 410 years, for the Valar granted the Numenoreans a lifespan far exceeding that of ordinary Men. All subsequent kings of Numenor descended from him, and through them, the lords of Andunie, Elendil, Isildur, and Aragorn.
