Also known as: The Mariner's Wife
Erendis, remembered as the Mariner's Wife, was a lady of Numenor who wedded Tar-Aldarion, the great sea-king, in the early days of the realm. But she loved the green land and could not endure his long voyages away over the sea, and bitterness grew between them until they parted; their estrangement is among the few intimate tragedies recorded of Numenor. Their only child, Tar-Ancalime, became in time the first Ruling Queen of the island kingdom.
