The twenty-fifth and last King of Numenor, the mightiest and most prideful. He usurped the throne by forcing his cousin Miriel to marry him. Threatened by Sauron's growing power, he sailed to Middle-earth with a vast armada so mighty that Sauron's forces fled. He took Sauron as a prisoner, but the Dark Lord corrupted him through cunning counsel, leading him to worship Morgoth and ultimately to sail against Valinor itself, seeking immortality. Iluvatar intervened, drowning Numenor and swallowing Ar-Pharazon and his armies in a great cataclysm. He and his warriors are said to be imprisoned in the Caves of the Forgotten until the Last Battle.
