Tar-Ancalime was the first Ruling Queen of Numenor, daughter of Tar-Aldarion and Erendis, and the first to take the Sceptre under the new law that allowed a king's eldest child, whether son or daughter, to rule. Wilful and long unwed, and shaped by her mother's bitterness toward her seafaring father, she reigned long; but she neglected the friendship with the Elves and the aid to Gil-galad that her father had begun, and in her time the old alliance cooled.
