Also known as: Ereinion, High King Of The Noldor
The last High King of the Noldor in Middle-earth, Gil-galad ruled from Lindon throughout the Second Age. He formed the Last Alliance of Elves and Men with Elendil to challenge Sauron, and together they besieged Barad-dur for seven years. Gil-galad was slain by Sauron in personal combat on the slopes of Mount Doom, his body burned by the heat of Sauron's hand. His death marked the end of the Noldorin High Kingship. He wielded the spear Aeglos and bore the ring Vilya, which he entrusted to Elrond before the final battle.
