Sister of Turgon, restless and adventurous. She left Gondolin and was ensnared by Eol the Dark Elf, who took her as his wife. She bore Maeglin. When she later fled back to Gondolin with her son, Eol followed and threw a poisoned javelin meant for Maeglin that struck Aredhel instead, killing her.
