Anaire was a lady of the Noldor, the wife of Fingolfin and mother of Fingon, Turgon, Aredhel, and Argon. When the Noldor rose in rebellion and followed Feanor out of Aman, Anaire would not go, for she was close in friendship with Earwen of the Teleri and would not forsake the Blessed Realm. So she was parted from her husband and her children, who passed over the Grinding Ice into the long defeat of Beleriand, while she remained behind in Tirion among the folk of Finarfin.
