Also known as: Earwen Of Alqualonde, The Swan-Maiden
Earwen, the Swan-maiden of Alqualonde, was the daughter of Olwe, lord of the Teleri and brother of Elwe Thingol. She wedded Finarfin, youngest son of Finwe, and bore him Finrod, Angrod, Aegnor, Orodreth, and the lady Galadriel. Through her Telerin blood her children were close kin to the royal house of Doriath, and it was in part for love of their mother's people that Finarfin and his folk were grieved beyond measure by the Kinslaying at Alqualonde, where the Noldor shed Telerin blood to seize the white ships. Finarfin alone of the leaders turned back and returned to Aman; but Earwen's children went on into the Hither Lands and into the histories of the Elder Days.
