Also known as: King Of Nargothrond
Son of Finarfin and the noblest of the Noldor in Beleriand, Finrod founded the underground fortress of Nargothrond and was a great friend of Men. He swore an oath of friendship to Barahir (father of Beren) after Barahir saved his life. When Beren came to claim that oath, Finrod accompanied him on the quest for the Silmaril. They were captured by Sauron and imprisoned on Tol-in-Gaurhoth, where Finrod engaged in a duel of songs of power with Sauron. Though Sauron defeated him, Finrod died heroically, breaking free of his bonds to slay the werewolf sent to kill Beren, sacrificing his life to honor his oath.
