Also known as: Earendil The Blessed, The Bright
Son of Tuor and Idril of Gondolin, husband of Elwing, and father of Elrond and Elros. Earendil is the great hero who sailed across the Sundering Sea to reach Valinor and plead with the Valar to intervene against Morgoth. Wearing the Silmaril upon his brow, he sailed the ship Vingilot through the enchantments that guarded the Blessed Realm and made his case for both Elves and Men. The Valar heard his plea and launched the War of Wrath. Earendil was set in the sky with the Silmaril, becoming the Evening and Morning Star, and it was his light that was captured in the Phial of Galadriel that aided Frodo and Sam in Mordor.
