Men

Rian

The mother of Tuor, wife of Huor, whom she wed scarcely two months before he marched to the Battle of Unnumbered Tears and did not return. She gave birth to their son in the wild, gave him to the Grey-elves of Mithrim to foster, and then walked alone to the great burial mound of the slain, the Haudh-en-Ndengin, where she laid herself down upon it and died. Tolkien gives her only a handful of sentences, and they are among his saddest; yet through the infant she saved, her line became the line of Earendil, of the kings of Numenor, and of the King Elessar.
