Belegund was the son of Bregolas of the House of Beor and the father of Rian, who would wed Huor and bear Tuor, father of Earendil. Like his brother Baragund, he was one of the twelve outlaws who stood with Barahir in Dorthonion after the Dagor Bragollach, refusing to abandon the land though Morgoth had overrun it; and with that faithful company he was slain at Tarn Aeluin when Gorlim's betrayal gave them into the hands of the Enemy.
