Eomer

Also known as: King Of Rohan, Marshal Of The Riddermark, Eomer Eadig

Eomer, son of Eomund and of Theodwyn the sister of King Theoden, was Third Marshal of the Riddermark, and with his sister Eowyn was raised in the king's own house after their parents' early deaths. Bold, hot-tempered, and fiercely loyal, he warded the eastern Mark against orc-raids; and when Wormtongue's counsel set a price on his disobedience, he defied it, hunting down and destroying the Uruk-hai band that had carried off Merry and Pippin near Fangorn -- and there meeting Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, to whom he lent horses on trust.

Restored to the king's favour when Gandalf healed Theoden, Eomer fought at Helm's Deep and rode south to Gondor. On the Pelennor Fields, coming upon the body of the fallen king and his sister Eowyn lying as one dead, his grief turned to a reckless battle-fury, and he took up the kingship in the field and led a great charge, crying "Death!" as he hurled the Rohirrim against the hosts of Mordor -- only to be answered by the unlooked-for coming of Aragorn upon the black ships. After Theoden's death he was hailed King of Rohan, eighteenth of his line; he stood with Aragorn at the Black Gate, became a fast friend of the Reunited Kingdom, wedded Lothiriel of Dol Amroth, and ruled the Mark long and well as Eomer Eadig, the Blessed.
