The usurper who took Edoras in Rohan's darkest winter. His father Freca, a rich and insolent lord of mixed Dunlending blood, demanded the hand of King Helm's daughter for his son and insulted the king before the council; Helm answered with a single fist-blow that killed him. Wulf returned four years later at the head of a Dunlending host while Gondor's enemies struck simultaneously from the east. Edoras fell; Wulf sat the throne of the Mark through the Long Winter while Helm starved in the Hornburg; Helm's son Haleth died defending Meduseld's doors. When the thaw came, Frealaf, Helm's nephew, surprised Wulf in Meduseld and slew him where he had crowned himself, founding the second line of the kings of the Mark.
