Also known as: Imladris, The Last Homely House, Karningul
The hidden valley refuge of Elrond Halfelven in the foothills of the Misty Mountains, founded in the Second Age during Sauron's destruction of Eregion, and preserved by the power of Vilya, mightiest of the Three Rings. Called Imladris in Sindarin and the Last Homely House East of the Sea, it has sheltered the heirs of Isildur, the shards of Narsil, and every weary traveller of goodwill — including Thorin's company and, later, Frodo, healed there of the Morgul-wound. The Council of Elrond met there, and from its door the Fellowship of the Ring set out.
