Also known as: Lord Of Lorien, The Wise
A lord of the Sindar, kinsman of Elu Thingol, and husband of the Lady Galadriel, with whom he ruled Lothlorien through the long years of the Third Age. Celeborn dwelt in Doriath in the First Age before its ruin, and afterwards passed east over the Misty Mountains; tall, grave, and wise, he was counted among the greatest of the Sindar, though in the tales he stands ever in the shadow of his renowned wife. He bore no Ring of Power, yet deep was his counsel and his knowledge of the lands of Middle-earth, gathered over an age and more.
When the Fellowship came to the Golden Wood, Celeborn received them in the high talan of Caras Galadhon, grieving at the loss of Gandalf in Moria, and gave them boats, lembas, and gear for the road down Anduin. In the War of the Ring the host of Lorien under his command crossed the Great River and cast down the dark hold of Dol Guldur in southern Mirkwood. After the war and Galadriel's passing into the West, Celeborn ruled a while in East Lorien, then dwelt in Rivendell among the sons of Elrond; but at the last, it is said, he too grew weary of Middle-earth and took ship, and with him passed the living memory of the Elder Days.
