Brego

The second King of Rohan, son of Eorl the Young, who completed the conquest and settlement of the Mark and built Meduseld, the Golden Hall of Edoras. At the feast of its completion his eldest son Baldor rashly vowed to walk the Paths of the Dead — and never came back. Brego died of grief the following year. The hall he raised stood for five hundred years as the heart of the kingdom, and the kings who followed him are reckoned in lines from his hall: it is at Meduseld's doors that Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli present themselves to Theoden, in the very hall Brego built.
