Wellinghall was one of the ent-houses of Treebeard, a lodge under the brows of the last spurs of the Misty Mountains, near the springs of the Entwash deep in Fangorn Forest. It was a great bay in the rock roofed with the trailing boughs of an evergreen tree, with a floor of grass and a stone table and basins of ever-filling water; there Treebeard brought Merry and Pippin, and gave them the ent-draughts and heard their tale, as he pondered whether to rouse the Ents to war.
