A woman of Minas Tirith and the eldest of the healers serving in the Houses of Healing. Ioreth was known for her garrulousness and tendency to ramble, but it was her casual recitation of an ancient saying that proved crucial at the darkest hour: 'The hands of the king are the hands of a healer, and so shall the rightful king be known.' This fragment of old lore prompted Gandalf to seek Aragorn to heal the victims of the Black Breath, including Faramir, Eowyn, and Merry. She was overawed and delighted by Aragorn's presence and chattered about it for the rest of her days.
