Galdor was an Elf of the Grey Havens, sent by Cirdan the Shipwright as his messenger to Rivendell, where he sat among the wise at the Council of Elrond. There he spoke shrewdly, pressing the Council to weigh plainly the two courses before them -- to hide the Ring or to destroy it -- and doubting whether even the Havens could long hold against the full might of Sauron. He was among those who helped resolve at the last that the Ring must be taken to the Fire and unmade.
