A mighty Elf-lord with a remarkable history. In the First Age, Glorfindel was a lord of the House of the Golden Flower in Gondolin. During the Fall of Gondolin, he fought a Balrog to protect the fleeing refugees, and both fell to their deaths. Glorfindel was rehoused in Valinor and sent back to Middle-earth in the Second Age, one of the few Elves ever restored to life. In the Third Age, he served Elrond in Rivendell and was one of the mightiest Elves remaining in Middle-earth. He rescued Frodo from the Nazgul at the Ford of Bruinen, and his spiritual power was such that he shone with the light of Valinor in the wraith-world.
