The ancient mountain refuge of the Rohirrim above Harrowdale, reached by a switchback road lined with the worn Púkel-men statues of a forgotten people. The host of Rohan mustered there before riding to Gondor; there Aragorn parted from the king to take the Paths of the Dead, and there Merry, ordered to stay behind, accepted a quiet rider's offer to bear him to battle — a rider called Dernhelm.
