Also known as: King Of Dale
King of Dale at the time of the War of the Ring, grandson of Bard the Bowman who slew Smaug. When Sauron's forces moved against the North, a great army of Easterlings attacked both Dale and Erebor simultaneously with the assault on Minas Tirith. Brand and Dain Ironfoot fought together in defense of Dale but were driven back into Erebor. On the very day that the One Ring was destroyed, Brand was slain before the Gate of Erebor, dying alongside Dain Ironfoot, both falling in defense of each other's people. His son Bard II succeeded him and drove the Easterlings away when news of Sauron's fall reached the North.
