Also known as: The Great Horn, Boromir's Horn
The great horn of the Stewards, made from the horn of a wild kine of the East by Vorondil the Hunter, tipped with silver and written with ancient characters. It was said that if it were blown in need anywhere within the bounds of Gondor of old, its voice would not go unheeded. Boromir, heir of the Steward, bore it; he sounded it defiantly setting out from Rivendell, and blew it at the last on Amon Hen, beset by orcs. Aid came too late. The horn was found cloven in two upon the river, and laid in the lap of Denethor.
