Durin The Deathless

Also known as: Durin I

The eldest of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves, created by Aule and given life by Iluvatar. He awoke alone at Mount Gundabad and founded Khazad-dum (Moria) beneath the Misty Mountains. He is called "the Deathless" because the Dwarves believe he is reincarnated in his descendants; six times a Dwarf so like him has appeared that he was named Durin. Durin's Folk are the most prominent Dwarf-clan in Tolkien's writings.
