Also known as: Lord Of Eregion, Grandson Of Feanor
The greatest smith of the Second Age and grandson of Feanor, son of Curufin. Celebrimbor founded the realm of Eregion near the Doors of Moria and led the Gwaith-i-Mirdain (People of the Jewel-smiths). He was deceived by Sauron in the guise of Annatar and together they forged the Rings of Power, though Celebrimbor alone made the Three Elven Rings without Sauron's direct touch. When he discovered Sauron's treachery after the forging of the One Ring, he hid the Three and defied Sauron. Sauron invaded Eregion, captured Celebrimbor, and tortured him to learn the location of the Rings. Celebrimbor died under torment without revealing where the Three were hidden, and Sauron hung his body on a pole as a banner.
