Annuminas, the Tower of the West, was the first capital of Arnor, the North-kingdom of the Dunedain, raised by Elendil beside the waters of Lake Nenuial. There were kept the Sceptre of Annuminas and one of the seven palantiri of the North. As the North-kingdom waned and its people dwindled, the city fell into ruin and lay long deserted beside the grey lake. After the War of the Ring, King Elessar restored Annuminas and made it once more a seat of the kings, dwelling there at whiles as lord of the reunited realm.
