The Huntsman of the Valar, Lord of Forests, and the Vala most familiar with the lands of Middle-earth. While most of his kin remained in the Blessed Realm, Orome rode often through the great lands east of the Sea in the ages before the Sun and Moon, hunting the monsters and fell beasts of Melkor by the light of the stars alone. The Sindar named him Tauron, the Forester, and Araw; to the Men of the North in later days he was Bema. His great horn, the Valaroma, rang clear over the mountains, and at its blowing the servants of the Enemy fled before him. His steed is Nahar, the white horse whose hooves shine like silver, and he is the spouse of Vana the Ever-young, the younger sister of Yavanna.
It was Orome who first found the Quendi at the mere of Cuivienen upon their awakening, and the Elves who beheld him were filled with awe and named him Aldaron, Lord of Forests. Carrying word of the Awakening back to Valinor, he roused the Valar to make war upon Melkor for the protection of the Firstborn; and after Utumno was thrown down and its master led away in chains, it was Orome who guided the Great Journey of the Elves westward toward the light of Aman. Of all the Powers he and Yavanna and Ulmo loved Middle-earth the most, and grieved most at its marring.
