Goblin-town was the warren of caverns and tunnels delved by the Orcs beneath the High Pass of the Misty Mountains, ruled by the Great Goblin. Thorin's company, sheltering from a storm, were captured and dragged down into it; Gandalf broke their captors with sudden fire and slew the Great Goblin, and in the flight through the dark Bilbo was lost -- and in the roots of the mountain found a ring, and a creature named Gollum, in a meeting that would change the fate of the world.
