Crickhollow was a small house in a lonely corner of Buckland, beyond the village of Bucklebury, which Frodo bought as a blind to cover his true purpose, giving out that he meant to retire there from Hobbiton. It was there that the conspiracy of his friends was revealed to him, and from there that he and his companions slipped away into the Old Forest; left empty behind them, the house was broken into that same night by the Black Riders, who found their prey already flown.
