Cerin Amroth

Cerin Amroth was a green mound at the heart of Lothlorien, named for Amroth the Elven-king, crowned with two circles of trees -- white-barked without, golden mallorns within -- and carpeted with the small golden flowers called elanor and the white niphredil. It was the fairest spot in all the realm, where the ancient power of the land lay undimmed and no shadow could be felt. There Aragorn and Arwen once plighted their troth; and there, long after, the widowed Arwen came at the end of her life to lay herself down and die, when the world had grown grey and the Elves were gone.
