Anorien was the land of Gondor north of the White Mountains, between them and the Anduin, the heartland about the City of Minas Tirith and its townlands of the Pelennor. Through it ran the great north road and the line of warning-beacons upon the mountain-spurs, kindled in time of need to summon aid; and across it, in the War of the Ring, the Rohirrim rode in haste to the relief of the besieged City, guided through the hills by the Wild Men of the Druadan Forest.
