Also known as: The Battle Plain
Dagorlad, the Battle Plain, was a wide barren land before the Black Gate of Mordor, north of the Dead Marshes. There at the end of the Second Age the great host of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men met the armies of Sauron in a battle of terrible slaughter and overthrew them, before the seven-year siege of Barad-dur began. The graves of the fallen of that day lay scattered about the plain, and in after years the slow-spreading marshes crept over many of them.
