The female Ents who, unlike their mates, preferred ordered gardens and cultivated fields to wild forests. They crossed the Anduin and tended gardens in the region that later became the Brown Lands. When Sauron scorched those lands in the Second Age, the Entwives vanished and were never found again, despite the Ents' long search.
