Rhun

Rhun was the vast and little-known land of the East, beyond the inland Sea of Rhun, whence came the fierce peoples called Easterlings -- among them the Wainriders and the Balchoth, who again and again poured west to assail Gondor and the Northmen. Long under the dominion of Sauron, the Men of Rhun marched in his armies in the War of the Ring; and it was into the East, also, that the two Blue Wizards passed long before and were lost to the knowledge of the West.
