Haldar was the son of Haldad, chieftain of the Haladin, and the twin brother of the Lady Haleth. When the Orcs besieged the Haladin in the angle of Ascar and Gelion, Haldar fell in the same assault in which his father was slain, cut down as he sought to defend Haldad's body. From Haldar, and not from the childless Haleth, the later chieftains of the People of Haleth in the forest of Brethil were descended.
